I Am Encouraging (Ephesians 4:29)

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

God Says You Are Encouraging

God has called you to use your words to build others up, not tear them down. This verse reminds us that our speech should be filled with kindness, love, and encouragement. Every word you speak has the power to either uplift or discourage someone, so God encourages you to choose words that help and encourage others.

The Bible says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Your words have the ability to bring life, healing, and hope. When you speak words of encouragement, you reflect God’s heart, lifting others up and helping them see their value and worth.

Being encouraging doesn’t mean always giving compliments—it means speaking words that give hope, bring peace, and inspire others to keep moving forward. God wants you to use your voice to make a positive difference in the lives of those around you.

How to Be an Encouragement to Others

  • Speak Words of Life
Choose words that bring hope and encouragement, especially when others are feeling down.
  • Listen with Compassion
Sometimes, being encouraging means simply listening and offering a kind word or a prayer.
  • Affirm Others
Recognize the strengths, talents, and efforts of others, and let them know how much you appreciate them.
  • Lift Others Up in Difficult Times
Be there for someone who is struggling, offering encouragement through your words and actions.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the power of words. Help me to use my speech to encourage and build others up, reflecting Your love and grace. Give me a heart of compassion to speak life into every situation and to be a source of hope for those around me. Thank You for the opportunity to use my words to make a positive difference. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
