I Am Forgiving (Colossians 3:13)
“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
– Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
God Says You Are Forgiving
God calls you to extend the same forgiveness to others that He has so freely given to you. This verse teaches us that forgiveness is not optional—it’s a command, rooted in the incredible grace God has shown us. No matter the hurt or offense, God wants you to forgive, just as He forgives you.
The Bible reminds us, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). Just as God has forgiven your sins, He asks you to let go of bitterness and resentment toward others. Forgiveness is a powerful act of love that brings healing, peace, and freedom to both you and those you forgive.
Choosing to forgive is not always easy, but it’s essential for your peace and spiritual growth. When you forgive, you reflect God’s heart, and He will give you the strength to release any hurt or pain, offering His grace to others just as He offers it to you.
How to Practice Forgiveness
- Let Go of Grudges
Refuse to hold onto past hurts, choosing to release them to God and move forward with peace. - Pray for Those Who Offend You
Ask God to heal the relationship and give you a heart of compassion and forgiveness. - Remember God’s Forgiveness
Reflect on the forgiveness God has shown you and let that motivate you to forgive others. - Forgive Immediately
Don’t let anger or bitterness take root. Choose forgiveness as soon as possible to prevent it from growing.
Prayer
God, thank You for forgiving me when I didn’t deserve it. Help me to forgive others with the same love and grace that You’ve shown me. Give me the strength to let go of anger and bitterness, and to release any offenses to You. Teach me to walk in forgiveness every day, reflecting Your love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
